Hundreds of students from nine different schools marched to the Carolinian Affair’s Office Wednesday afternoon for the Department of Public Health Community Guidance Center’s 4th Annual Kick Butts Day March and rally.

The nine schools were Dandan Elementary School, Garapan Elementary School, Oleai Elementary School, San Vicente Elementary School, Kagman High School, ChaCha Jr. High School, Grace Christian Academy, Hopwood Jr. High School and Marianas High School.

Each schools had the chance to show off their school banners to represent their school spirit as they marched against smoking.

At least 22 CNMI groups and organizations held exhibits while Mister and Miss Teen Role Models Anthony Tenorio and Alana May Leon Guerrero kept the rest of the crowd entertained.

According to Tobacco program coordinator Edward DLC. Camacho, the turnout of this year’s event was successful.

“Many people commended us for this year’s Kick Butts Day,” Camacho said.

Office of Youth Affairs’ Mike Manglona said that Kick Butts Day encourages a healthy lifestyle that is drug- and tobacco-free.

The march started at the Garapan Fishing Base up to the Carolinian Affair’s office.

KBD was first held four years ago as a way for the youth to take a stand, speak up and seize control in the fight against tobacco.
