Let the people decide

If the House and Senate can’t decide where to hold the venue for the State of the Commonwealth Address, then I propose that the decision be given to the people of the CNMI. After all, we voted for you guys to represent us, not disappoint us. So let’s make this very simple and have us, the ordinary people, decide for you guys in the Legislature.

So here is my suggestion: Let us kindly ask Rep. Joseph Camacho to set up a polling place on his Web site for the public to place their ballots as to the location of this public event. The voting should end on April 18 so that gives us a week’s preparation before the event.

Although I think it is a waste of our time, it is the only solution to the power struggle between the two branches of government. This should remind the people that they do in fact have the voice as to where the venue for our public address event should be.

Personally, I would rather have it at the Civic Center beach area on a weekend where I can have a barbecue and a drink while I relax and listen to our leaders present their reports like our forefathers used to do traditionally. I prefer tradition over modern accommodations.
