Man who burglarized MCV gets 14 months
The Superior Court has imposed a 14-month prison term on a man who burglarized the Marianas Cable Vision two years ago.
Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo sentenced William Jerome Deleon Guerrero to five years in prison, all suspended except for 14 months. Deleon Guerrero was given credit for six days he has already served in jail.
Govendo ordered Deleon Guerrero to start serving the prison term on May 15, 2008.
The defendant is expected to complete his sentence on July 19, 2009. After serving the sentence, he will be placed on five years’ probation.
The judge required the defendant to pay a $500 fine, a probation fee, and restitution.
Deleon Guerrero was also ordered to write a letter of apology to MCV and perform 100 hours of community work service.
The defendant was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and theft, burglary, and theft.
He signed a plea agreement with the government and pleaded guilty to burglary.
According to court documents, Deleon Guerrero and two other men burglarized MCV between Sept. 10 or 11, 2006. A safe deposit box containing over $34,000 in cash and checks were stolen.
