Khobby Kaipat left the Miguel Basa “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Field unscathed in leading the UMDA Hustlers I to a 17-0 shutout win over the Wells Fargo As Matuis Twins in Wednesday’s Majors division game in the Saipan Little League.

The win improved the Hustlers’ record to 5-1 as they stayed close behind the 6-1 slates of the defending champion SaipanCell Patriots and the Happy Market Ol’Aces. Martha’s Store Survivors, the San Antonio Dragons of PIC, and the Bank of Saipan Red Sox are tied in second place with similar 6-2 marks.

Kaipat pitched four hitless and scoreless innings with three strikeouts and seven walks to foil the birthday celebration of Twins’ pitcher Ton Camacho.

Kaipat forced the Twins to ground out, fly out, or hit line drives that were fielded cleanly by his teammates.

A.J. Lizama led the Hustlers 14-for-29 batting going 4-for-4 at the plate with a three-run inside-the-park home run in the Hustlers’ eight-run first inning scoring spree.

He also scored twice with a double, a stolen base, and six RBIs.

Jesus Celes also went perfect going 3-for-3 with a first inning RBI double to go with his three runs while Kaipat went 2-for-3 with three runs, a double, and one RBI.

Raymund Saralu and Miko Abianta combined for 4-for-6 in batting with four runs and two doubles. Abianta also had an RBI and a stolen base.

Jesus Mafnas, 2-for-3, had a two-RBI double in the first inning and a two-RBI single in the second to go with his three runs and one stolen base.

Camacho got tagged with the loss as he struggled on the mound giving up 13 earned runs on 15 hits with three strikeouts and three walks.

Six of those hits are doubles while one is an inside-the-park homer.
