Gov. Benigno R. Fitial is calling on the community to attend a special mass this Tuesday morning at 6am at the Mount Carmel Cathedral to pray for Bishop Thomas Camacho’s health as he undergoes surgery in Hawaii.

Bishop Camacho, 74, left for Hawaii in March to undergo extensive medical examination to diagnose potentially cancerous lesion in his right lung.

Fitial is especially encouraging graduates of 1964 to attend the special mass this Tuesday.

The governor is an alumnus of the school and is part of the class of 1964.

Camacho was ordained as a priest on June 14, 1961.

He was ordained bishop in 1985 and is scheduled to submit his resignation to Pope Benedict II upon turning 75 on Sept. 18 this year.
