Housekeeping stuns F&B Chefs, 77-51
The FO/Housekeeping Department stunned last year’s finalist F&B Chefs, 77-51, in the continuation of the 7th Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino Inter-Departmental Basketball League at the TDHC staff house court.
The Arnold Divinagracia-coached Housekeeping team used its quickness against the taller Chefs in completing the lopsided win.
Housekeeping opened up with a double-digit advantage after the first quarter and was never threatened after that as the Chefs could not find their usual rhythm that brought them to the finals last year.
What added to the Chefs woes was the errors committed by rookies Russel Manalo, J.P. Garcia, and Allan Marquez that did not help their cause. Veteran scorer Philip Mabansag was also limited to just two points.
Housekeeping point guard Gaby Cajayon led his team’s scoring with 17 points, while getting a lot of scoring support from Joel Miranda and Richard Nuera, who chipped in 15 and 12 markers.
The win also erased Housekeeping’s 71-79 loss to the Security Department last week.
Manalo led the Chefs with 17 points, while Garcia and Marquez ended up with 10 apiece.
In the first game, Casino showed they are one of the teams to beat this season when they coasted to a 98-60 win over Taga/Housing/Slots/Surveillance Department.
Casino’s starters waxed hot early in the game and built an early double-digit lead allowing them to spend much of the game sitting on the bench.
