Police arrested Tuesday night in Kagman two men who allegedly stole a cow near its owner’s house last month.

Francisco Aldan, 25, and Joey Aldan, 27, were arrested for theft.

A $1,000 cash bail each was initially imposed for the two’s temporary release. A bail hearing was set yesterday afternoon in the Superior Court.

Detective Nicholas C. Leon Guerrero stated in his report that on April 5, 2008, police received a complaint that a cow owned by June Somorang and described as a one-year-old brown male calf with tiger stripes on its sides had been stolen.

The calf was reportedly last tied in an open grassy area near Somorang’s house in Kagman.

On April 8, a detective interviewed a witness who claimed to have seen a truck pulling a cow that passed by his residence in Kagman III.

The witness said the blue Toyota pickup truck was traveling slowly and that he identified the driver as Fransciso Aldan and the passenger as Joey Aldan.

The witness said a male juvenile was sitting behind the truck, pulling the rope that was tied to the cow’s nostrils.

When a detective showed the witness photos of the Aldans, he identified them as those in the truck with a cow.

The witness also disclosed to police that the truck was no longer blue, but painted red after Somorang’s cow went missing.
