TaoTao Tano president Greg Cruz, who in the past was vocal in his opposition to federalization, is now saying that the CNMI should “move forward and let the federal government do its job.”

In a statement released yesterday, Cruz said senior staffer of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Allen Stayman, “clarified and answered our debates on permanent residency and green cards.”

Staymen, in a statement released recently, said there is no provision in Public Law 110-229 providing green cards to guest workers.

Cruz said the community should understand that the CNMI “is in a political union with the United States and there are provisions in our Covenant agreement that requires mutual consent between governments.”

“Its time to embrace the reality of S.2739 and lets move forward to a better Commonwealth and let the Federal Government do its job in establishing a stringent strict border control,” Cruz adds.

He concluded that tourism is the only industry left in the CNMI and all kinds of protests in the community “such as unity marches, candle light vigils, signature drives, and so forth must end, for the reputation of our homeland has been damaged far enough nationwide.”

“Its time we the people of the Commonwealth rebuild, restore and repair the damage and reputation of our homeland that had been instilled by such false promises by human rights advocates,” he adds.
