House honors Hyatt’s von Siebenthal
The House of Representatives has adopted a resolution honoring a hotel official for his contributions to the Commonwealth.
Michael von Siebenthal has served as general manager of the Hyatt Regency Saipan since 2001. Over the past seven years, he has instituted major upgrades to the hotel and has been an active member of the community.
He will soon transfer to the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Fukuoka, Japan.
“[The] members of the House of Representatives recognizes and commends Mr. Michael von Siebenthal, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Saipan, for his professional accomplishments and active involvement in the community. …[We] wish him and his family the best of luck in his new position at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Fukuoka, Japan,” stated the resolution introduced by Rep. Edward Salas and adopted by the House on Friday.
Under von Siebanthal’s leadership, Hyatt Regency Saipan did major upgrades to the hotel including renovation of employee locker rooms, and the addition of the I Sagua Spa valued at $1.4 million, female Club Elan locker room, aerobics/yoga room, and staff housing estimated at $6.5 million.
During his stay on Saipan, he held important roles in numerous business organizations. He has served as a board member and secretary of the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, active member of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce where he served as a member of the Government Relations Committee, member of the Strategic Economic Development Council, member of the Marianas Visitors Authority, and co-chair of the Garapan Transformation Project.
He has also served as vice president of the Northern Marianas College Foundation and chairman of the NMC Foundation Open Golf Tournament for the past three years. He was instrumental in raising about $400,000 for the foundation.
Furthermore, von Siebenthal has headed the annual Club at the Hyatt golf tournament with proceeds benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation for the past seven years.
On behalf of the Hyatt, von Siebenthal has supported community causes and events such as the American Red Cross, Beautify CNMI!, Marianas March Against Cancer, and Taste of the Marianas.
“Mr. Michael von Siebenthal was not only an exceptional general manager of the Hyatt Regency Saipan, but also an upstanding member of our community,” the House resolution said.
