Light in the Eve President Foundation president Teresa Kim and Mariana Islands Nature Alliance chairman Fran Castro will be shaking hands tonight at the MINA’s General Membership Meeting. Light in the Eve will be handing over a donation check for $6,000 to MINA.

The funds were raised at this year’s Pineapple Ball “Glamour Under the Sea.” The Light in the Eve Foundation was created in 2003 with the mission to help the islands’ non-profit groups achieve their goals in bettering the lives of resident of the CNMI.

MINA is a non-profit environmental group dedicated to the conservation of the natural resources of the Commonwealth. MINA works to involve the community in the conservation and management of the CNMI natural resources trying to achieve long-term preservation and better understanding of our ecosystem. Funds raised this year will be going to MINA’s environmental teacher’s camp. The camp, which will be held this summer, introduces educators about the marine ecosystem, provides hands-on outdoor training, and helps to develop curriculum and ways to seek other educational resources. Participants of the teacher’s camp are expected to include an awareness and appreciation of the marine resources to their students throughout the school year.

All people interested in the environment and becoming MINA members are welcome to come to the Fiesta Resort and Spa for the MINA banquet tonight at 6pm and learn more. (PR)
