August start eyed for SML Summer/Fall League
The 2008 edition of the SML Summer/Fall Youth Baseball League is tentatively set to start in August, according to Saipan Major League official Tony Rogolifoi.
In a media release, Rogolifoi said the local baseball association is hoping to kick off the developmental league for players 15-25 years old immediately after the conclusion of the 2008 Budweiser Saipan Major League, which currently has half of its regular season completed.
Rogolifoi, a CNMI Sports Hall of Famer, said team rosters should be accompanied by a player’s proof of age eligibility such as driver’s license, passport, or other forms of official identification.
He said team rosters should have a maximum of 25 players and teams should secure health insurance cards to guarantee coverage in case of injury during the games.
Entry fee for the 2008 SML Summer/Fall Youth Baseball League is $800 and is payable to the Saipan Major League. Rogolifoi is encouraging interested teams to start securing sponsors for their respective entrance fees and team uniforms. He said he will hold an organizational meeting sometime this month for the league.
