Teregeyo leads 131 sixth graders at San Vicente
A total of 131 students from San Vicente Elementary School earned promotions to the junior high school level on Friday, receiving certificates of completion during the school’s end of the year farewell ceremony.
The ceremony kicked off with the theme to the movie Chariots of Fire and welcoming remarks from PTA member Joann Ogo and Board of Education member Herman T. Guerrero.
Following the words of greeting, the homeroom top five class awardees were presented.
The top five for Jaime Vergara’s class were Dennis de Guia, Colleen King, Matthew Lopez, Jovillelyn Ogoy and Niki Teregeyo.
Teregeyo, the daughter of Alfred and Roselle Teregeyo, had also earned the school’s most prestigious award, the Commissioner’s Award. She also earned a certificate for being best in Science.
Her mother said she could not be happier upon learning of her daughter’s success.
“I’m just very proud of her. She’s worked so hard and I’m so glad her hard work has gone unnoticed,” her mother said.
Teregeyo has been involved in various school activities throughout her years at SVS. She took part in the annual Math Court, the National Junior Forensic League, and the Academic Challenge Bowl.
The top five students in Cecilia Camacho Brett’s class were Karen Binuag, Chelsea King, Aalieyan Ogo, Hye Young Oh, and Jesus Sablan.
Oh earned the Principal’s Award, which is the school’s second highest award. Oh also received recognition for being best in math and social studies.
Ogo was awarded best in Bilingual.
The top five students in Yvette Reyes’ class were Jill Ann Arada, Kristine Batac, Frankie Blas, Jaymie Ivan Sanchez, and Jesse Villalon.
Batac was this year’s recipient of the Teacher’s Award and also received recognition for best in language arts.
The top five students in Ben Rayphand’s class were Richard Ada, Hannah Alcardo, Ramon Herrera, Sung Jung Kim, and Suvan Sablan.
The top five students in Valencia Flores’ class were Jeraldine Castro, John Duenas, Shanna Mendoza, Joseph Patris, and Leeani Villagomez.
SVS principal Kinai Salas said she is proud of all her students and wishes them the best of luck in all of their future endeavors.
“Reach for that dream that you have and never give up,” Salas said.
