HAGATNA, Guam—The Tourism Education Council’s 3rd Annual Wine and Food Tasting event held recently at the Westin Hotel raised $25,000 from businesses and individuals throughout the community.

“This is $10,000 more than last year’s event,” said Development chair Brian Artero. “We are very pleased and thankful that the business community stepped up in a big way to support this event and this project”.

Part of the proceeds from the one night event will go toward “Project Proa,” a Guam-based “sense of place” initiative started by the TEC over a year ago.

“The Proa is only one piece of the many parts that make up sense of place,” said project chair Jose Munoz. “This will be the first of several initiatives started by TEC to underscore the importance of sense of place in our community”.

The Proa is almost complete, and the committee expects to launch the canoe sometime in August. Look for details about the launch soon.
