APAFS to host 2nd investment education conference in Yap
The conference boasts presentations from recognized experts on the latest trends and best practices affecting institutional funds today. In addition, public officials and business executives will have the opportunity to interact with these experts to better familiarize themselves with issues surrounding institutional fund management.
The conference is the second in a series of mini-conferences to be held throughout the year by APAFS.
The first event was held in Palau on April 22, boasting over 50 participants who received a certificate of completion at the end of the program.
The objective of the organization is to provide educational programs for members in the jurisdictions of Palau, Guam, CNMI, FSM and Marshall Islands, expanding to other areas as opportunities arise. These mini-conferences are one of the primary goals of the association, to hold topic-specific conferences as requested by members in their jurisdiction.
APAFS is currently in the planning stages for Majuro, Pohnpei, Guam and Saipan, culminating in the 8th Annual Pacific Region Investment Conference to be held in Manila on Oct. 9 and 10 at the Renaissance Hotel, Makati.
The morning session with deal with “How to Deal with Market Volatility” while the afternoon session will cover “The Prudent Investment Process for Institutional Investors”. Light breakfast will be served to start, as well as lunch. All participants will receive certificates of completion.
Instructors include Jason Miyashita, AIF, who will address the recent capital markets volatility and the prudent process, while Mark J. Heath, CFA, will cover the “Capital Markets Outlook” as well as the “Current State of APAFS” in his capacity as Deputy Executive Director of the association. Plans for the 8th Annual Pacific Region Investment Conference in Manila will be presented as well.
The conference will wrap up with a VIP Cocktail reception. The association expects over 50 representatives from both the government and private sectors.
Jason Miyashita will be in Yap on June 4 through June 6 for pre- and post-conference meetings/interviews. Interested parties may contact Jason in advance at executivedirector@apafs.org.
