Anita Hofschneider tops 25 MBA graduates
Marianas Baptist Academy celebrated its 21st commencement exercise Friday evening for 25 of its graduates.
MBA graduated 11 high school students and 13 middle school students.
Anita Hofschneider, speaker of the 10th Youth Congress and recipient of the school’s leadership award, was named as this year’s valedictorian. She is the daughter of James and Penelope Hofschneider.
In her remarks, Hofschneider shared that even though she and her fellow graduates had looked forward to graduating for a long time, “I also know that most of us are scared, make that terrified, about going to college and leaving MBA.”
“For a long time, MBA has been the only world that we’ve known and it hasn’t been easy—but its always been familiar. And the closer to the day that we leave the people and the place that we have come to love, the harder it is to believe that we’re actually ready to go,” Hofschneider said.
She also said that no matter how sad it is to leave the school and no matter how intimidating it might be to enter another, “all of us are ready. We are ready because the challenges we have overcome at MBA have made us strong enough to face the challenges in the future.”
MBA had two salutatorians this year—Roger Kwon Lee who will be attending the University of California, and Nicole Sonia Castro who will be attending Boise State University.
Other high school graduates in the A Honors list were Titania Cho, Sang Woo Ju, and Jeong Hyun Joo.
On the B Honors list were Jae Wan Kim, Jamie Vales and Gospel Trinidad. Trinidad was also the recipient of the Citizenship Award, Christian Service Award, Loyalty Award, and the Journalism Award.
Teachers, family, and friends gathered at the Multi-Purpose Center to witness the graduation ceremony.
