Father Gary Bradley, S.J.
Former Pastor of Kristo Rai Parish
Vicar General of the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa[/B]
There is an old proverb, “When the heart is full, the eyes overflow.”
And so it is when we remember our friend, Father Gary Bradley. Our feelings and those of many on Saipan honor his memory.
“Life’s clock is wound but once,
And no person has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At a late or early hour.”
Our earthly lives—not unlike time itself—has no harbor, it has no shore. Like the ocean tide it rushes on and carries us with it. Life—time—and tide waits for no one. Leaving us to enjoy each fugitive hour, each passing year, with memories of a dear friend.
The lengthening shadows on all our lives remind us of the darkening shade of time on each of us and those of our friends long departed and marked by the dusk of each passing day.
We say to the memory of Father Bradley
– even when the bulb of the hourglass shatters, we will remember you;
– when darkness withholds the shadow from the sundial, we will remember you;
– when the mainspring winds down so far that the clock hands hold still, we will remember you.
We know from life’s message that time flies and draws us with it. The moment in which we contemplate his friendship is already far from us just as that Sunday morning eight years past.
