A call to change CUC forever
I’m done talking about change and talking about a revolution of minds. This Tuesday, June 17, 2008, starting at 6pm,you are invited to join us at the multi-purpose building to listen to ideas on changing CUC forever. It is time we either put up or shut up.
Things to bring:-Flashlight or battery-operated lantern in case of power outage. Would you really be surprised if they turned off the power?
-Letter or written testimony about any personal problem you have encountered with CUC or suggestions on how to make things better. We wish to collect these letters and review them as we will not be able to hear testimony from every single person attending. You can write them anonymously if you wish.
-An open mind. We are not gathering to scream, shout, or stir up a lynch mob. If this is what you are looking for, please look elsewhere. Let’s let cooler heads prevail and use our minds, not our tempers or our fists. Peaceful demonstrations are meant to be peaceful and to bring change, not to incite riots and violence.
What I have learned in life is that once you take a side on any controversial issue, you will be insulted, ridiculed, threatened, and can even be attacked verbally or physically. I will not give in to political pressure and I will not cater to anyone who has agendas spurred by hatred or anger. We must be inspired by the possibility of change, which is attainable if we work together for the betterment of our islands.
For the record, this administration cannot be blamed entirely for CUC’s failures. It is the end result of decades of decadence, from CUC’s mismanagement, to its bad decision-making, to its possible corruption. While I will not blame this administration for CUC’s failures, I do expect them to adhere to the DEMANDS of the good people of the Commonwealth. To all of our leaders, if this is the very best you can do, pot fabot, do not bother to run again, because it is not good enough. You promised change when you were elected. Now let’s see you prove yourself. Preba hao!
As I have said before, we must put aside all of our differences to solve the greatest problem affecting each and every one of us today. At no time will we discuss federalization, party affiliations, or assess who exactly is to blame for the problems of CUC. We all are accountable, because as citizens we have sat by passively for far too long and allowed it to erode to what we see today: failed engines and failed management.
I am asking every concerned citizen to stand up and be counted and let all of our leaders know that we will no longer tolerate paying the highest utility rates in the modern world without any light at the end of the tunnel.
No more lies. No more excuses. No more…
Tuesday, June 17, 2008, 6pm, multi-purpose building. Be there if you want to be an advocate for change.
Power to our good people of the Commonwealth…
