Kiara Mafnas is honored with scholars’ society membership
Another local student was recently recognized for her academic achievements and her continued efforts to achieve academic excellence.
Saipan resident Kiara Mafnas was selected for membership in the National Society of High School scholars—an invitation given only to students who have superior academic achievement and are among the top scholars in the nation.
With her selection, the Danbury High School student, who has an extended family on Saipan, is eligible for various scholarships offered only to members of the Society. Other valuable benefits include opportunities for networking, events, and publications, among others.
Her induction was announced by NSHSS honorary chair Claes Nobel, a senior member of the Nobel Prize family.
“On behalf of NSHSS, I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice, and commitment that Kiara Mafnas has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence,” Nobel said. “Kiara Mafnas is now a member of a unique community of scholars—a community that represents our very best hope for the future.”
NSHSS president James Lewis also extended his congratulation to Mafnas on her scholastic achievement and her membership into the dynamic organization.
“Our vision is to build a dynamic international organization that connects members with meaningful content, resources, and opportunities,” Lewis said. “We aim to help students like Kiara Mafnas build on their academic successes and enhance the skills and desires to have a positive impact on the global community.”
As a member of NSHSS, Mafnas is now qualified to enjoy a wide variety of benefits, including scholarship opportunities, academic competitions, free events, member-only resources, publications, participation in programs offered by educational partners, online forums, personalized recognition items, and publicity honors.
Mafnas is the daughter of Eric and Velma Mafnas and Yvonne and Paul Van Allen.
