2 brothers in CK riot sentenced

The Superior Court sentenced yesterday to prison two brothers who had clashed with another group of men in Chalan Kanoa, resulting in one person being stabbed.

Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja sentenced Sipson K. Ludwig to three years in jail, all suspended except for eight months without parole for aggravated assault and battery.

His brother, Sos K. Ludwig, was sentenced to six months in prison, all suspended, for rioting.

The judge gave the 18-year-old Sipson Ludwig credit for the 153 days that he has already served in jail.

Sipson Ludwig will be released on Sept. 10, 2008. He was placed on three years probation and required to pay $1,376.65 as restitution to the victim plus $300 in probation fees, $250 fine, and $100 court fees.

Naraja placed Sos Ludwig on six months probation and required him to pay a $125 fine and court assessment fee. He also required Sos Ludwig to perform 40 hours of community service.

During the probation period, the 22-year-old Sos Ludwig will not be allowed to consume any alcoholic beverages.

Sipson Ludwig was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and riot. He and his lawyer, Danilo Aguilar, signed a plea agreement with the government, represented by assistant attorney general Jeffery Warfield Sr. Sipson Ludwig pleaded guilty to the amended charge of aggravated assault and battery.

Sos Ludwig was charged with riot. He and his lawyer, Edward Arriola, signed a plea agreement with Warfield. He pleaded guilty to the charge.

According to the plea agreement, on Jan. 10, 2008, Sipson Ludwig was involved in a fight with Patrick Torres and others.

During the fight, Sipson Ludwig caused serious bodily injury to Torres in the form of lacerations to the body, necessitating medical treatment at the Commonwealth Health Center.

During the same incident, the agreement stated, Sos Ludwig “did assemble with Sipson Ludwid and Onochew Iata and placed others in fear by use of force, violence, loud noise, shouting or threats.”

Police said the fight happened at the parking lot of Heng Da Store between 12:15am and 1:28am.
