The Philippine Consulate General, in cooperation with the United Filipino Organizations, will be holding the traditional “Pistang Pinoy” on Sunday, June 15, as part of celebrations for the 110th Philippine Independence Day.

Pistang Pinoy this year will be held at the Garapan Central Park starting at 9am.

The Philippine Consulate General has already held the annual flag-raising ceremony at the Marianas Business Plaza grounds last Sunday, a full four days ahead of the actual June 12 anniversary, which fell on a Thursday this year.

The UFO has lined up activities for Sunday’s festivities, showcasing Filipino culture and tradition, food, goods, entertainment and other activities.

There will musical performances by Rated R and Fat Joy Slim, song numbers by the Uncle Ben’s Saipan Dream Academy Stars, games for both children and adults, magic shows, and prizes.

UFO president Flor A. Miranda emphasized the importance of the day coming ahead as it marks the day for all overseas Filipino workers around the world “a chance to enjoy our country’s freedom.”

“I just want to invite everybody, including those from Tinian and Rota, to come and join us at this big event to say Mabuhay to everybody,” Miranda said.

Sunday’s guests will include Gov. Benigno R. Fitial, Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela, and Philippine Consul General Wilfredo DL. Maximo.

Master and mistress of ceremony will be Ulysses Sabuco and Minda D. Castro.
