Six Korean media outlets to visit Saipan and Rota
The Marianas Visitors Authority announced yesterday that representatives of six media outlets from South Korea will be visiting the islands on June 16 – 19. Their visit will include a day trip to Rota on June 18. One staff member will accompany them from MVA Korea.
The six media outlets include Maiel Business Newspaper, Korea Economic Daily, Korea Herald, Sports Hankook, Travel Information Times and ABROAD.
The Maeil Business Newspaper and Korea Economic Daily are the top two business newspapers in Korea with a daily circulation of 1,000,000 copies each. The Korea Herald is the leading English daily with over 50 percent market share in the English daily market and has a daily circulation of 800,000 copies. The Sports Hankook is a popular sports daily with circulation of 500,000 copies. The Korea Travel Information Times is a travel-trade newspaper with circulation of 55,000 copies weekly. ABROAD is a travel magazine with circulation of 50,000 copies monthly.
While on Saipan, representatives of the six media outlets will do numerous tours to learn more about the island. From island tours and jungle tours to shopping and dining, they will get a first-hand look at what Saipan has to offer. On Rota, they will get to see the swimming hole and the bird sanctuary as well as have a meal at the Bay Breeze Restaurant.
MVA would like to thank its participating members for making this media trip possible. They include Asiana Airlines, Hyatt Regency Saipan, KTAS, Fiesta Resort & Spa, Hard Rock Café, Stars and Stripes, and Bay Breeze restaurant.
“MVA believes that this familiarization tour will give the media a first-hand experience of the various attractions the Northern Marianas has to offer,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “They will gain on the spot knowledge of the destination and will be able to reflect our islands in their media coverage when they go back to Korea. This tour will also serve to strengthen MVA’s relationship with the Korean media. With their help, we can increase our exposure to the Korean public and attract more visitors.” (MVA)
