Hearing set on target shooting resorts projects

The House Standing Committee on Commerce and Tourism chaired by Rep. Joseph C. Reyes will conduct a series of public hearings to receive testimonies for a bill that seeks to allow target shooting resorts on the islands.

House Bill 16-31 will amend the Weapons Control Act to promote and allow resort developments that offer target ranges for competitive rifle competitions and skeet shooting.

The first public hearing is scheduled on Monday, June 19, 2008, at 6pm in the House chamber on Capital Hill.

The next one, Saturday, July 12, will be held at 10am at the Tinian Elementary School cafeteria in San Jose, Tinian.

The public hearing goes to Rota on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at 1pm at the Village Round House in Songsong.

Copies of the legislation may be obtained by sending a request to the Office of Representative Joseph C. Reyes, downloading it at cnmileg.gov.mp, or requesting a digital copy via email to rep.jcreyes@gmail.com.

Members of the public are encouraged to submit written testimony on or before the public hearing. Oral testimony will be received during the public hearing.
