The Coalition of United Workers (NMI) has organized a forum for Filipino guest workers this Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Saipan Community Church in Susupe. Registration will start at 8am and admission is free.

Guest speakers are Ombudsman Jim Benedetto from Federal Ombudsman’s Office, Philippine Consulate Team headed by Consul General Wilfredo DL Maximo and Guam-based businessman Alfredo Antolin.

This is the first in a series of forum that will be held with Benedetto. Schedules will be arranged by sector. Leaders of the different guest workers communities are helping coordinate the schedule, venue and other possible speakers.

Benedetto will talk about PL 110-229: what it means to the guest workers and updates since its passage. The Philippine Consulate team will share information about other labor destinations and new policies affecting Filipino guest workers while Antolin is expected to share useful insights about federalization and its impact on guest workers.

For inquiries, email Coalition president Irene Tantiado at irenebdi@yahoo.com or text at 483-6867.

“We are asking participants to be there early so they won’t miss any part of the forum,” said Tantiado. [B][I](PR)
