2nd Pride Dance Party tonight at Club V
The CNMI will once again join the rest of the nation and the world when it celebrates the second annual CNMI LGBT Pride Dance Party tonight, June 25, Wednesday, at the premier party hub on Saipan, Club V.
This year’s revelry will celebrate the release of Madonna’s newest album Hard Candy. Costume and lip synch competitions will highlight the event and showcase the best Madonna outfits and impersonation. Trivia questions about the pop and LGBT icon will also be asked during the event, with exciting prizes to be won for those who provide the correct answers.
Tickets are sold at the door for only $6 each.
A dollar from each ticket will go to the Napu Life Foundation, a group that advocates HIV and AIDS awareness in the CNMI. Napu Life Foundation president Joaquin Sablan said the group is once again honored and happy to be this year’s beneficiary for the event. He said last year’s event got positive feedback from a Guam group that attended the event.
Last year’s theme was in line with the movie premiere of Hairspray, starring John Travolta, and at least 300 community members attended the event that was highlighted by a Hairspray Hairdo and Costume Competition, participated in by 17 of the islands’ most creative gay men and women.
DJ Tattinouk will serve as the guest disc jockey while Club V in-house band Remyx will also grace the event. Napu Life Foundation will also have a brief presentation on the group’s thrust and projects for the whole year.
Non-profit groups Napu Life Foundation and RaveSaipan are organizing the event this year, in collaboration with Saipan Grand Hotel. Major sponsors include Carlsberg, Traders Insurance, Excel Insurance, Esolutions, Vargas Constructions, Cielo Jewelry, Genoveva’s Labtech, Sun Palace Hotel, SaipanCell, Salon De Manila, NMBF, and Wear-a-Marconi.
