[B]Saipan resident graduates from Boston U[/B]

BOSTON, Mass.—Boston University awarded academic degrees to 5,760 students in May 2008. Among the graduates was Saipan resident Min Jung Yoon, who received a Master of Public Health in Biostatistics.

Boston University is the fourth largest independent university in the United States, with an enrollment of more than 29,000 students in its 17 schools and colleges. The university offers an exceptional grounding in the liberal arts, a broad range of programs in the arts, sciences, engineering, and professional areas, and state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and research. [B]Bordallo upon learning of Quitugua’s death [/B]

HAGATNA, Guam—Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo released the following statement upon learning of the recent death of U.S. Army veteran Christopher Quitugua:
“My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the late Christopher Quitugua, most especially to his wife, Cari, during this very difficult time,” said Bordallo. “Christopher’s service to our nation and our island will be honored and remembered always.” (PR)

[B]Managaha waters get green flag[/B]

The Division of Environment Quality analysed water samples collected from Managaha’s recreational beaches and dock this week and none of the samples collected contained excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria nor did they exceed the CNMI Marine Water Quality Standards. Therefore, DEQ assigned all of the sampled beach sites a green flag.

DEQ analyzed a total of 11 samples from the shore surrounding Managaha this week. DEQ welcomes all inquires as to qualify of the beach water. The public is encouraged to contact DEQ at 664-8500 with any questions concerning this matter. (DEQ)

[B]Free computer classes at library[/B]

The Joeten Kiyu Public Library will offer a free basic computer and Internet classes to all students beginning July 1 to Aug. 30, 2008.

[B]Benito Clan meeting set[/B]

This is to inform the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Vicente Gogue Taitano and Juan Gogue Taitano “Benito Clan” that the next meeting for the “Benito Clan” will be on Monday, June 30, 2008, at the residence of Sylvestre I. & Esco T. Iguel in Tanapag at 6pm.

[B]MHS Class of ’88 Mass practice tomorrow[/B]

This is to inform all classmates of the Marianas High School Class of 1988 that there will be a Mass practice tomorrow, Thursday, June 26, 2008, 6pm at Kristo Rai Church.

[B]WSR Elementary School notice[/B]

All parents and guardians are being informed that the William S. Reyes Elementary School Office will be closed during the following dates: June 30-July 4/July 31-August 8.

Student Registration is still ongoing. If your child is not registered, please come by the office to register you child/ren. Registration will close on Aug. 11. Registering your child early will ensure that his/her school entrance is not interrupted.

The required student uniforms for school year 2008-2009 are on sale at the office. If purchased by June 27, a set of five (top and bottom) is $108. If purchased after June 27, the set will cost $115. Parents are also welcome to buy the uniforms individually.

WSR notebooks and yearbooks are also on sale at the office for $2 each.
