Asia-Pacific tourney schedule out

The 2008 Asia-Pacific Regional Little League Tournament is all set to start this weekend and proof of this is local organizers have finally released the official schedule of the six-day event dubbed the “Road to the World Series.”

Only one match is scheduled on the first day of the tournament on Saturday, June 28, as the 1pm opening ceremony will immediately be followed by the 3pm first match between host CNMI and archrival Guam in the Big League.

Four games are set on Day 2 on Sunday, June 29. The CNMI Junior All-Stars will open their campaign against Indonesia beginning at 9am. It will be followed by the 11am match between the Philippine Junior All-Stars and their counterparts from Guam.

The final two games of the second day of competition will both be between the Philippines and Guam, as their Senior all-stars square off at 1pm followed by the Big League matchup set at 3pm.

On Monday, June 30, action resumes at 9am with Hong Kong taking on Indonesia in the Junior League, followed by the Guam-CNMI game in the same age division at 11am.

The CNMI Senior All-Stars will then lock horns against the Philippine Senior All-Stars in the 1pm game, while the Philippines take on Hong Kong in the Junior League in the 3pm match.

The first of July, Tuesday, will feature the Philippines’ Junior All-Stars challenging Indonesia in the 9am first game, followed by the 11pm match between Hong Kong and the CNMI in the Junior League.

Big League action will greet fans after lunch as the CNMI will take on the Philippines in the 1pm game. The Indonesia-Guam Junior League match then follows at 3pm.

The final day of the eliminations gets going on Wednesday, July 2, with Guam taking on Hong Kong in the Junior League at 9am. The Philippines and CNMI will then duke it out in the same age group at 11am with CNMI-Guam in the Senior League wrapping things up,—prior to the finals—set at 1pm.

Championship games are scheduled for July 3, Thursday, beginning with the Junior League at 9am, followed by the Senior League at 11am, with the Big League finals scheduled at 1pm.
