I am writing to request assistance from the general public for anyone who knows what happened and or what led to the death of Grande Nonan. Grande was killed on Isa Drive, Sadog Tasi on Sunday, May 4, 2008.

Grande has been with our family for over a decade, he was a very good worker, and he got along with everyone instantly. Grande was a jack-of-all trades, just as Fr. Jesse Reyes mentioned during his homily at the Holy Mass offered during Grande’s viewing. He became really close to my father, the Late Captain Vicente M. Concepcion and was my father’s fishing partner. Now, we know that both my beloved father and Grande are fishing in heaven.

Today, July 4, would be exactly two months (60 days) since Grande was killed. There have been many hardships our family, and his family, have endured with Grande’s passing. We lost a great worker and a good friend. None of us will see his smiling face, or his eagerness to help you with any task you give him. He made friends with many of our repeat customers at the beachside. He has gone fishing numerous times with my brother, Capt. Lawrence, and also with my husband, Capt. Ray.

The reason I write this letter today is to urge anyone with information to please come forward and tell the police. The hardest thing to comprehend is how can someone kill a person and live with their conscience? How can you knowingly live, day by day, night by night, knowing you killed a human being? Different scenarios run through my mind, thinking that the driver was probably way too drunk to even know they killed a person. But what about when they woke up the next morning? What about when they saw that their front end of the vehicle was damaged? What about the friends that know of damage to a car matching the description? What about the person or auto shop that repaired the damaged vehicle? Or, what if the auto shop changed the date on when the vehicle was received? What about the insurance adjuster that cannot pay for a claim that does not have a police report? Or was the vehicle repaired? What if the vehicle is hidden somewhere and someone knows about it, but isn’t reporting it? What if Grande stayed home that early morning, would that have happened? What if Grande wasn’t killed by a hit and run? What about the other people that drove by that time, who know of something but are scared to tell? What about eyewitnesses and where are they? What about, what about, what about???

There are numerous “what abouts” that go through my mind and in the minds of his family and friends, but the question is, What if you know something, what are you going to do about it? I hope that someone out there knows something about Grande’s death and that they report it to the police. Call Crime Stoppers at 234-7272, you can remain anonymous. It is my hope that we can bring justice to Grande and to his family.
