Bordallo mourns death of 2 Guam sons
Washington, D.C.—Guam Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo issued a statement yesterday condoling with the families of two the Guam National Guardsmen who were killed in action in Afghanistan and extending her prayers to another who was seriously hurt in the same incident.
“I join the people of Guam in mourning the deaths of Sgt. Brian Leon Guerrero and SPC Samson Mora, who were fatally injured in Afghanistan. We also pray for SPC Kalani Echang who was seriously injured in the same incident in Afghanistan,” she said.
Bordallo said she has already spoken with the families of Leon Guerrero, 34, and Mora, 28, to offer her condolences and assistance to help them in this difficult time.
“I also spoke with the family of SPC Echang and I offered my hope for his full recovery and pledged whatever assistance my office can provide.
“Our island mourns the loss of life and we honor their service to our nation. Their ultimate sacrifice for our freedom is a debt that we can never fully repay. We will remember them as heroes and we will do whatever we can to help ease the burden on their families,” she added.
Leon Guerrero and Mora died of injuries sustained after their vehicle struck an improvised bomb.
The two, together with Echang, are members of the Guam National Guardsmen serving with the Alpha Company in Afghanistan. About 180 soldiers from Alpha Company of the Guam Army National Guard are serving in Afghanistan. (Saipan Tribune)
