Beautify CNMI sets weekend cleanups

Beautify CNMI will be hosting two cleanup events this weekend.

Today, the organization will be cleaning up the area around the Koblerville Youth Center and Substation. The event will begin at 8am and is expected to last four to six hours, Angelo Villagomez of beautify CNMI, said.

On Sunday, the group will meet at the American Memorial Park parking lot to pick up trash around the Garapan tourist district. The event will start at 8am and is expected to last an hour, Villagomez said. The event is part of Beautify CNMI’s monthly cleanup that takes place on the first Sunday of the month at various locations.

The Koblerville cleanup has been an ongoing project, he said.

“Two years ago it was an overgrown mess. We sort of want to turn it into a public park,” Villagomez said.

He said the group goes back every couple of months to clean up and cut the grass.
