The son of Rota Mayor Joseph Inos was released on bail to his stepmother Wednesday, promising to adhere to a strict curfew and keep out of all poker arcades on Rota.

Wilbur Vic Masga Inos, 25, who was arrested Monday for allegedly robbing Rota Poker, was ordered released to his stepmother, Lucinda Inos.

Lucinda Inos is to make sure her stepson follows the 7pm to 6am curfew set by Saipan Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo.

If Wilbur Inos is one minute late or steps foot inside a poker arcade, she must notify the police, Govendo said.

“So if you hear or see he is going into [a poker building] you have to report it,” he added.

Govendo said Wilbur Inos could stay out past the 7pm curfew when he is undergoing police training, something he had been pursuing before his arrest. Wilbur is allowed to arrive home one hour after any training ends, Govendo said.

Lucinda Inos is using a house valued at approximately $130,000 as bond.

“There’s a lot to lose by his stepmom,” Govendo said when Assistant Attorney General Melissa Simms objected to Wilbur’s release.

At the hearing, Chief Public Defender Adam Hardwicke asked Lucinda Inos if the incident was an embarrassment.

“Very much so,” she said.

According to the police report, Wilbur Inos had told the police officer that he needed the money because his son is in critical condition in Guam and might die. He allegedly pleaded with the police officer to let him go and pretend he never saw him.

Wilbur will be arraigned Aug. 22.
