The U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Detachment Team from Guam will be detonating World War II unexploded ordnance on the island of Farallon de Mendenilla on Sept. 2 – 3, 2008 from 6am to 6pm.

In a notice issued yesterday, the Emergency Management Office, in conjunction with U.S. Naval Forces Marianas Guam, and AMPRO, said the location of this activity will be on the island of Farallon de Mendenilla Training Area on a 10 nautical mile radius on all quadrants.

Due to the danger imposed by this activity, EMO is advising the public—especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators—to stay away from this area during the time and dates indicated.

Should you have any questions, contact the EMO Operations Section at telephone numbers 322-9528 and 322-9529, VHF MARINE CHNL 16, and HF Single Side Band Radio on 5.205.0. (EMO)
