Fil-Taga 15th year golf tournament set Nov. 16
This early. organizers have finalized the date and venue for Fil-Taga Golfers Association’s 15th Anniversary Golf Tournament with a maximum target number of 144 players or a minimum of 60.
The annual event is slated Nov. 16 at the Coral Ocean Point Golf Resort in Koblerville. The venue and the date of the event was decided during a meeting recently.
Entry fees and prizes were also finalized as well as the selection of chairmen for various committees—Ted Mallaran (tournament and solicitation director), Nestor Siruelo (prizes and surprises), Leo Ganacias (advertisement and program), and Rey Ferraz (entry forms and tournament rules and regulations).
The entry fee for each Fil-Taga member is $80, while guest players will pay $100 to join the event.
The double peoria-format tourney will have a shotgun start of two flights for each hole starting at 10:30am. Show time is scheduled at 9am.
Organizers remind that each member should secure a minimum of two guest players.
The first two players to make a hole-in-one will get $10,000 each.
Mike Licup of Traders Insurance committed a tentative premium of $250 per $10,000.
Also discussed was the tournament’s regular attraction—the nearest to the pin contest for all par 3s—with a one-time fee of $20 and raffle ticket worth $1 each.
Fil-Taga’s officers are led by president Jun Dela Cruz Jr., vice-president Jhun Calma, secretary Manny Po, and treasurer Guban.
Its board of directors is made up of Fr. Manny Corcuera, Miguel Cruz, Jr., Ted Malaran, Gil Faller, Rey Ferraz, Greg De Torres, Rene Batallones, Nestor Siruelo, and George Sablan
Established in 1993, Fil-Taga’s tournaments operate under a computer-controlled handicap system that creates parity among players in the A and B Flights.
A Fil-Taga Ace of the Month champion is crowned monthly. Regular tournaments are scheduled once a month, normally every third Sunday. Green fees are in the $35 to $40 price range for most tournaments.
