Drinking water problem corrected
Customers of the Saipan water system along As Gonno Road, Ahu Drive, and Alaguan Street need no longer boil their water as the bacterial problem with the water supply has already been corrected.
In a statement issued yesterday by the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., it said the chlorine treatment was found to be providing adequate chlorine to the affected areas.
Repeat samples collected on Friday, Sept. 5, were tested and found to be free of both total coliform and E. coli, CUC said.
Homes along As Gonno Road, Ahu Drive, and Alaguan Street were notified on Sept. 5, 2008, of a problem with the drinking water and were advised to boil their water before using.
“We are pleased to report that the problem has been corrected and that it is no longer necessary to boil the water before using it. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience,” CUC said.
