The San Antonio Sixers were simply too much for G-Rollers II as shown in the former’s 64-28 victory in the Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League Monday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The win improved the Sixers’ record to 2-0 putting them in a tie for second place with G-Rollers I.

G-Rollers II remained winless in four games.

There was no way the G-Rollers II could snap their losing skid against the Sixers, as the former’s total points were even lesser than the latter’s first-half output.

The Sixers scored 29 markers in the first half with Joe Ada anchoring the team’s attack to give San Antonio a 29-15 halftime lead.

Ernest Duenas, who is playing in his last season in the 18-under caging, picked up where Ada left off in the second half, drilling nine of his 11 points in the last 20 minutes of the game.

The Sixers bench also stepped up in the second half, combining for 11 points to help San Antonio rout the hapless G-Rollers II.

The G-Rollers II had only five of their 12-man roster contributing on offense. Jerry Mabini was the lone double figure scorer for the Garapan-based squad with 11. G-Rollers II’s second best scorer—Mike Manglona—had only six markers.

Ada paced the Sixers, who won their debut against the G-Stars, with 16 points, while Matt Duenas and Rodney Salas chipped in eight apiece. Five Sixers players tallied 19 points.

Meawhile, defending champion CNMI Junior Nationals will go for their third straight win against the Chalan Kanoa Saints tonight.

The Junior Nationals dropped their first match against the Southern Sonics during the league’s opening game, but won their next two, beating the G-Rollers II and the Kontenders.

The Saints lost in their first two games against the G-Stars and the Sonics, and are expected to have a tough time in their bid to enter the win column.

Last night’s match had the G-Stars squaring off with the Suns. The G-Stars currently hold a 1-2 record, while the Suns are winless in two matches going into Tuesday night’s game.

Sixers 64 – Ada 16, E. Duenas 12, M. Duenas 8, Salas 8, R. Duenas 6, Benavente 2, Agtarap 2, C. Duenas 2.

G-Rollers II 28– Mabini 11, M. Manglona 6, Norita 4, Babauta 3, E. Manglona 2, Santos 5.

Scoring by halves: 29-15, 64-28.
