The fall session of the Tsunami Saipan Swimming Center’s swimming lessons will begin this Saturday at the south pool of the Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan.

Tsunami Saipan will be holding swimming lessons for five Saturdays in coordination with the American Red Cross. The five-weekend sessions will be handled by Tsunami Saipan officials, volunteers, and swimmers.

The list of coaches include Bobby and Tami Winkfield, Stan Good, Mike Villagomez, Rezne Wong, Cooper Graf, Kai Staal, Kensuke, Shin, and Hiro Kimura, Mina Minami, Marystar Welch, Amanda Johnson, Annie Camacho, and Karen Buettner. Assistant coaches are Kaisei Toda and Ashley Welch.

Every swim lesson will be a one-hour session and will run 10am to 11am.

Tsunami Saipan coach Hiro Kimura said they increased the number of sessions from four to five to give participants more time to learn the basics of the sport.

During the June and July session, Tsunami conducted only four sessions for more than 50 swimmers.

This fall, only the first 55 individuals to register will be allowed to join the weekend swim lessons. Registration this Saturday will run from 9:30am to 10am.

“We will be giving lessons on a first come, first serve basis,” Hiro said.

He added that participants will be given certification upon completion of the lesson.

Only participants who are at least five years old are allowed to join the sessions, whose next four lessons will take place on Sept. 20 and 27 and Oct. 4 and 11.

Entrance fee is $30 per participant. For families, each member will only pay $25.
