Rites of Passage V contract signing deadline this Friday

Mixed martial arts fighters for the upcoming Rites of Passage V: Raging Warriors will have only until Friday, Sept. 26, to sign their contracts, Trench Tech Inc. president and promoter Justis “Cuki” Alvarez announced yesterday.

Mixed martial arts fighters for the upcoming Rites of Passage V: Raging Warriors will have only until Friday, Sept. 26, to sign their contracts, Trench Tech Inc. president and promoter Justis “Cuki” Alvarez announced yesterday.

Alvarez said failing to meet the deadline would mean automatic disqualification from the final fight card. He said substitutes will be ready to fill in if there will be slots that are left vacant.

So far, half of the 40 fighters that are included in the 20 pairings have already signed a contract for the event slated this Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Trench Tech Gym in Afetnas.

It will be Marianas Elite’s Derrick “Pinchi” Rangamar and Trench Tech’s Chris “No Luv” Laayug for the main event while 22 others will be fighting for the first time.

Alvarez said that fight cards are always subject to change in the days leading to the event.

However, he assured that they would have at least 16 to 20 fights on the night of the event.

Alvarez said that on the day of the weigh-ins, which is also on Friday, Sept. 26, between 5pm to 7pm, fighters and their parents are expected to flock to the Trench Tech Gym for confirmation and contract signing.

Tickets are sold at $20 and are available at Hannam Market in Koblerville, Trench Tech Gym in Afetnas, 67Zero Rocksteady Shop in Middle Road, Garapan, and Boarderline Skate Shop in the Joeten Hafa Adai Shopping Complex across DFS Galleria.

Fights will be from 6pm to 11pm at the octagon cage.

In a previous statement, Alvarez said Pacific Xtreme Combat, or PXC, is looking for top talents from the CNMI in various weight classes for upcoming PXC events in Guam and it would be safe to say that representatives from the group will watch results of the event.

“Trench Tech is the only link to making it to ‘the big time’ and a chance to fight and make big bucks in PXC! Therefore, Rites of Passage is the perfect opportunity and proving grounds to showcase your skills and prove yourself!” he earlier said.
