Nikolao Pula, director for the Office of Insular Area, visited Tinian on Sept. 24 and met with Mayor Jose P. San Nicolas and the Tinian leadership.

Pula was accompanied on this side trip to Tinian by Gov. Benigno Fitial and some of his Cabinet members and staff, including Finance Secretary Eloy Inos.

San Nicolas was able to discuss with Pula and the Governor a variety of issues ranging from additional CIP funding needs to the military buildup concerns in the CNMI.

The Tinian leadership expressed the urgency of completing the new Tinian landfill, the Tinian International Airport’s instrument landing system project and other capital improvement project requirements for infrastructure.

In a statement, the Tinian mayor said he was encouraged by the positive attitude and genuine concern of Pula and his commitment to helping the Tinian municipal government. (PR)
