The Boy Scout program is going to be resurrected on Tinian after four leaders complete their training this week.

Scout leader Al J. Cabael said he is pleased Tinian Mayor Jose San Nicolas is behind bringing back the Scout program, which died down about two years ago.

Jose P. Kiyoshi, Tano King, Kurt King and Terence Aquininguc have come to Saipan this week to learn about the mission and goals of the program.

“We’re so happy these guys appear to be totally committed,” Cabael said.

Twenty-two applications have already been submitted to join the program and another 15 will soon be returned, Cabael added.

He said once the training is over the leaders can begin the scouting program.

“They’re now able to proceed with the program because they understand the program and how they fit in and what is expected of them and what our mission in scouting is,” Cabael said.

The Boy Scouts of America is the largest youth organization in the United States. There are more than five million members. Since the organization’s founding in 1910 as part of the international Scout Movement, more than 110 million Americans have been members of the BSA.
