Marianas Dive will be hosting the Annual Saipan Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Obyan Beach.

To join in on the fun just bring $5 for registration, a pumpkin, something to carve with and your scuba gear. The contest is open to all certified divers, residents and visitors alike.

Registration starts at noon and a Marianas Dive Club t-shirt will be given to the first 20 people to register.

The dive will begin at 1:30pm and carvers will have 60 minutes to carve their pumpkin (unless they run out of air first!). Pumpkins may be gutted prior to entering the water but must have no visible designs on them. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Marianas Dive will also be selling barbecue hamburgers and snacks for just $3 from noon until the event is over. Anyone who wants to watch but not participate is welcome to come out and enjoy the sun, fun and this unique and creative contest you won’t want to miss with Marianas Dive.

“Last year was a lot of fun and there were some awesome pumpkins carved and great prizes given away. We had people carving with everything from a dive knife to a full set of pumpkin carving tools. We expect it to be even bigger and better this year,” said Susan Marchitti of Marianas Dive.

Marianas Dive is a local scuba diving organization created not only to bring diving enthusiasts together to enjoy and help preserve the CNMI’s world-class marine environment, but also to promote the Northern Mariana Islands as an internationally renowned diving destination.
