Tsunami Swimming Center Saipan will be using its dual meet with Saipan Swim Club this weekend to prepare for two tournaments in Guam at the end of this year.

The Tsunami Saipan-SSC dual meet will be held tomorrow at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool with Tsunami Saipan coach Hiro Kimura wanting to see how their swimmers are improving after several months of training.

“When they swim against SSC this Saturday, we will be able to see their level of competence. The purpose of this meet is to review what they have learned from our practices and apply them to actual competition to produce the best possible results,” Kimura said.

He added the dual meet will warm up Tsunami Saipan for two tournaments in Guam. On Nov. 21 and 22, Tsunami Saipan will be competing in the Guam Swim Federation Island Invitational and Kimura’s wards will return on Guam on Dec. 27 and 28 for the Guam International Swim Meet.

Kimura said after the dual meet, they will evaluate the performances of their swimmers and see what needs to be done to get them in tip-top shape for the Guam tournaments.

The Tsunami Saipan coach added they are hoping to get personal best times from their swimmers this weekend and are also expecting CNMI records to be broken.

“There are high expectations for Rezne’s 50m breaststroke, Kai’s 50m, 100m, 200m freestyle, and Kensuke’s 800m freestyle,” Kimura said.
