LB chief tightens system on applications for leave
Legislative Bureau director Glenna SP Reyes has called on the agency’s employees to comply with policy for submitting leave.
In a recent memorandum, Reyes slammed the employees’ practice of submitting leave after they return from absence or at the end of every pay period. She said it violates the LB’s personnel policy and employment contract terms, and adversely affects timekeeping procedures.
“Effective immediately, prior to taking leave of absence, all employees are required to submit an application for leave to their respective immediate supervisor for preliminary review and consideration,” she said.
She added that the supervisor must submit a report on how the leave of absence will impact the workload of the relieving employee and a recommendation to the director for final decision. Employees who violate the policy will have their leave request disapproved and will not be paid for the duration of the leave, she said.
Reyes, who has served as LB deputy director since February 2006, was officially appointed to the position of director on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
