SGA sets tourneys for rest of 2008

Saipan Golf Association has released the schedule of the club’s remaining events for this year.

On Nov. 16, SGA will be holding the November Ace of the Month Tournament and the 2008 Annual Turkey Shootout at the Coral Ocean Point.

Members/players present at the award ceremony will receive turkeys, regardless of their performance in the two tournaments.

Entrance fee is $35 for the two events.

The last Ace of the month tournament is set for Nov. 30 with the winner claiming the December Ace title and earning the last slot to the Ace of the Aces Tournament. The last monthly event will take place at the Marianas Country Club in Marpi.

The Ace of the Aces Tournament, which is SGA’s club championship, will have two rounds of play. The first round on Dec. 13 will be held at the Kingfisher Golf Links, while COP will host the second round on Dec. 14.

Tee off and check-in times for the remaining events will be announced later.

So far, qualifiers for the Ace of the Aces Tournament include Mariano Fajardo, Joe Sablan, Ned Norita, Larry Deleon Guerrero, Carl Hocog, Edward Manibusan, Nobert Sablan, Ron Hodges, Art Deleon Guerrero, and Steve Balakrishna.

Monthly winners and the Ace of the Aces champion will get their trophies during the awards banquet/SGA Christmas Party on Dec. 19 at Charley’s Cabaret at the Pacific Islands Club.

The party will run from 6pm to 11pm.
