Local families needed for exchange program
The Edures Inc., with the assistance of the Marianas Visitors Authority, is inviting families on the island of Saipan to sponsor 58 young male Japanese students from the Kyoto Gaidai Nishi High School in Japan.
The students will be arriving on Saipan on Nov. 15, and will depart Nov. 17. The students will also have schedules in the morning that will occupy their time.
Families may house up to three students in their homes. If you can provide meals and transportation for the students to their respective meeting areas, that would be beneficial but not a necessary requirement.
“For quite some time, we have been assisting with annual exchange programs to and from Japan,” says MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “The exchange programs continue the friendship between the two countries. We would like to set up families who are willing to sponsor and open up their homes for these children who are more than anxious to learn about our unique culture and what our islands have to offer.”
If anyone is interested or know of someone who is willing to sponsor one or more students, contact Frank Tudela at (670) 664-3200/01, e-mail at ftudela@mymarianas.com or drop by the MVA office in San Jose. The deadline to submit all inquiries is today, Oct. 30, no later than 5pm. (MVA)
