Teigita hits back-to-back homers in DLNR win
Department of Land and Natural Resources overpowered Hopwood in a high scoring game, 25-16, in the Budweiser 2008 Inter-Government/Business Softball League Monday night at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.
DLNR shut out Hopwood in the last inning to escape with a win, the former’s third in four games.
After six complete innings, DLNR was ahead, 22-16. It added two earned runs and one off Hopwood’s error at the top of the seventh.
Hopwood must score at least nine runs to extend the game, but the team was done after only three batters. The first batter was beaten to first, while the last two flied out dropping Hopwood to a dismal 0-4 record.
Four DLNR players went 3-for-4 at-bat, including leftfielder Pete Teigita, who had back-to-back homers in the fifth and sixth inning and scored five RBIs. Catcher Paul Lisua also made a homer in the sixth inning and recorded three RBIs.

DEQ/CRM 8, P&S 7[/B]
Division of Environmental Quality/ Coastal Resources Management gained its second win in four games after outclassing Procurement & Supply, 8-7, in the first game of the night.
Centerfielder Ed Manibusan singled at the bottom of the last inning driving catcher Jacob Lizama home for the winning run.
The game was tied, 7-all, after P&S scored three runs at the top of the seventh capitalizing on DEQ/CRM’s errors. P&S scored two runs on DEQ/CRM’s outfielders errors and one more on extra hitter Joe Quitugua’s single.
Lizama led off for DEQ/CRM at the bottom of the first and advanced on a P&S shortstop error. Second batter John Delos Reyes flied out, while third batter and extra hitter Larry Sugiyama moved to first on another P&S miscue. With Sugiyama on first and Lizama on third, Manibusan stepped upto the plate and made the game-winning hit.
Outfielder Jesse Borja led DEQ/CRM at-bat going 3-for-3. He had a three-run homer at the bottom of the sixth allowing DEQ/CRM to take a 7-4 lead. Borja scored three runs and five RBIs.
Leftfielder Jack Diaz went 3-for-3 for P&S, but it was not enough to keep his team dropping to a 1-3 record.

Jets 16, CUC 3[/B]
In the second game in the men’s division, the Joeten Motors Jets regained its form after whipping the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., 16-3.
The Jets had their three-game winning run snapped by defending champion Department of Community and Cultural Affairs last week, 7-17.
But the Jets quickly recovered allowing CUC to score only in the fourth inning.
The Jets pitcher J.J. Laniyo gave up only two hits in the first three innings to shut out CUC before a two-run double by Jeff Cabrera put CUC into the scoreboard. Leftfielder Oscar Sablan gave CUC its third run when his single drove first baseman Jeff Cabrera home.
Despite making it to the scoreboard, CUC was still behind, 3-10, after four complete innings and failed to extend the game when the Jets defense shut the former anew at the bottom of the fifth.
Shortstop Cliff Silil and Laniyo were both perfect at-bat hitting 3-for-3. Laniyo scored three runs, two singles, a triple and two RBIs.
The Jets handed CUC its third loss in four matches.
