Games in the playoff round of the Inaugural 2008 PILCOWA-San Miguel Beer Basketball League over the weekend were suspended due to rain.

The first playoff game between MIGS and San Miguel Light set for Saturday was cancelled when it rained early afternoon making the CIC Centre Basketball Court in Garapan unplayable.

Also called off were the playoff matches between Diamond Auto Care and Aon Insurance and C&R Distributor/NRG and Reliance Construction.

League coordinator Fando Muleta said they will still meet with team representatives before rescheduling the three matches in the first round of the playoffs.

“We still need to check the availability of the players,” Muleta said.

The first round of the playoffs will have a single-elimination format, while the next round will be double-elimination.

Actually, Century tied MIGS in win-loss record, but the former took the pennant after beating the latter in their lone duel in the regular season, 98-94.

Reliance also defeated Aon Insurance in the tiebreak for fifth place. They had identical 2-4 slates in the regular season.

San Miguel had only one win in the preliminaries posting its lone victory over Reliance, 107-83.

Before starting the playoffs, the San Miguel caging held an All-Star Game on Nov. 15.

The Dark All-Stars, who were composed of players from C&R, MIGS, and Aon, prevailed over the Light All-Stars, 107-105.
