RGA Club Championship moved to Sunday
From its original Saturday date, Refaluwasch Golf Association has moved its 2008 Club Championship to Sunday, Dec. 7.
Tournament director Jess Wabol said they postponed the yearend tournament a day later to allow its members to take part in a golf tournament hosted by Northwest Airlines set the day before.
The day may have changed but the tee time stays the same at 11am, but Wabol said participants have to check in at the Kingfisher Golf Links an hour earlier at 10am for pairings and briefing.
Of the 12 monthly winners, all but Richard Pierce will be able to take part in the 2008 Club Championship.
Wabol said Pierce’s slot will be taken over by the April winner’s runner-up John Mettao. The rest of the qualifiers for the yearend affair are Luis Byun (January), Asterio Tawanpiy (February), Jess Wabol (March), Joe Demapan (May), Jordan Kossam (June), Manny Mangarero (July), Nick Sablan (August), Tars Olopai (September), Sonny Flores (October), Bae Yong Man (November), and Dwain Stephens (December).
The winner of the 2008 Club Championship gets to pocket $250 in cash, while runners-up take home $200 and $100, respectively.
Closest-to-the-pin prizes in all par-3 holes will also be up for grabs.
Entry fee for the yearend competition varies from member to member, as those who took part in at least 10 rounds and played in the Inaugural RGA Memorial Classic the past year will only need to fork out $30.
Those who played in the Memorial but failed to participate in at least 10 of RGA’s monthly and qualifying tournament, meanwhile, will have to part with $80, while the regular fee is $100.
The awards banquet for the 2008 Club Championship will be tentatively held at the Giovanni’s inside Hyatt Regency Saipan from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
In addition to the winners of the tournament being feted, RGA will also honor monthly winners of the year as well as award winners of the Most Putts, Least Putts, High Gross, Low Gross, Most Birdies, Most Pars, Most Bogeys, Most Double Bogeys, and Most Triple Bogeys categories.
