Lawmakers are poised to send formal congratulations to the students of Emmanuel College on their recent completion of an 11-month nursing program.

Rep. Justo S. Quitugua and three other members of the House of Representatives have sponsored a resolution to formally recognize the first group of 20 students who completed the vocational nursing program at Emmanuel College.

The students are Carla Avelista S. Agulto, Reyina Kay K. Aldan, Vanessa P. Aldan, Angeline Marie J. Ayuyu, Ofelia A. Bautista, Carmel Joan Cabrera, Paz L. Echavez, Alice Figueroa, Anna Victoria Ga, Raelynn Quenna A. Iglesias, Shirley Litang, Joyce Macaranas, Prosha Briana H. Palacios, Brian G. Piteg, Mario Salilin, Sarah Jane Santos, Jed Sikyang, Jian Teng, Elaine Q. Terlaje, and Archival Velasco.

They comprise the college’s first vocational nursing class. After undergoing 11 months of classroom education and clinical training at the Commonwealth Health Center, the students were awarded their certificates of completion on Nov. 15, 2008 at the Hibiscus Hall of the Fiesta Resort & Spa.

Emmanuel College was granted a three-year provisional license in April 2007, making it the first private post-secondary educational institution in the CNMI and Micronesia to offer an accelerated 11-month vocational nursing program.
