The Reserve Center in Puerto Rico announced yesterday that active duty military, reservists, veterans and their dependents could now get their military identification cards.

Maj. Greg Sablan of the Department of the Army E-Company 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry said new ID cards would be issued and those who have IDs that are already expired should renew theirs.

The center started issuing the IDs this week.

“We are calling for, retirees or veterans and dependents and family members of deploying soldiers to secure their ID now,” Sablan said.

The last time the center issued cards was in July this year when Military ID personnel from Hawaii visited the CNMI.

Sablan explained that this ID would give family members of military personnel or retirees easy access to their rights and privileges.

There are about 300 military retirees in the CNMI.

The center is open from 8am to 8pm on weekdays while on Saturday the issuance will be from 8am to noon.

“We thank the family members of our soldiers for their support and cooperation,” Sablan said.

One of the Army programs include the Freedom Team Salute that gives all U.S. Army soldiers—active duty, reservists and national guardsmen—the opportunity to recognize parents, spouses and employers for the support they provide to the soldiers while they serve to protect freedom and the American way of life.

This program is a special thanks to the nation’s veterans. The Army will send a Freedom Team Salute Commendation package to veterans for their dedicated service and continued support of today’s soldiers.

Another grassroots program is the Army Family Action Plan that gives everyone in the Army an opportunity to influence Army quality of life and standard of living.

This lets soldiers, family members, retirees and DA civilians voice what is and is not working and encourages them to make suggestions for resolution.
