Women’s league has same batting, pitching leaders

Bert and Bego Camacho strengthened their hold on the No. 1 spot in the batting and pitching race after five game games in the women’s division of the Budweiser 2008 Inter-Government/Business Softball League.

Bert Camacho, of defending champion Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, kept the top spot in the batting competition with her average of .700 after going 14-for-20.

Teammate Doris Camacho is still in second place with her batting average of .672 (9-for-13), followed by Finance’s Liz Lebria (.667), DCCA’s Antonette Laniyo (.647), and Finance’s Bego Camacho (.588).

Rounding of the Top 10 were NMC’s Angela Ngirbedul (.563), CUC’s Evelyn Kani (.563), DCCA’s Jennifer Teigita (.563), CHC’s Mercelyn Santos and Sheena Sablan (.545), CHC’s Shirley Ada (.538), NMC’s Kuki Pangelinan (.526), Finance’s Lilian Pangelinan (.500), NMC’s Pauline Camacho (.500), and CUC’s Roquita Norita (.500).

Batting leaders were based on 10 or more times at-bat.

Bert Camacho had recorded the most runs after five games with her 13, Jenny Palacios had the most doubles with two, Kani had the most triples with two, and Ngirbedul posted the most homers and RBIs with two and eight, respectively.

Bego Camacho tallied a 2.97 ERA to lead five other pitchers. She pitched 33 innings in five games, gave up 53 runs, allowed 15 hits and had 14 errors.

NMC teammates Felisa Brel and Polly Omechelang placed second with identical ERA of 4.53, followed by DCCA’s Eula Matsumoto (5.30), CHC’s Meng Yamada (9.43), and CUC’s Dolorina Panuelo (4.97).

Panuelo recorded the most strikeouts after five games with 14.
