Electrical faults and falling tree braches are to blame for outages Sunday and Monday, according to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.

On Sunday, an electrical fault in the Obyan area caused the breakers at the Chalan Kiya Substation to activate. This caused several Kiyas to trip. The affected areas were:

* Kiya 1: Entire Grid (As Terlaje, NMC, Botanical Garden, portions of Fina Sisu, Lower Dandan, upper Dandan Homestead, Isley Field, Kanat Tabla, As Perdido and San Vicente)
* Kiya 2: Entire Grid (As Lito, Koblerville, As Gonno, San Antonio, Afetnas, portions of Fina Sisu, Chalan Piao and portions of Chalan Kanoa)
* Kiya 4: Entire Grid (Chalan Kiya, San Jose, Oleai, Susupe, Mount Carmel and south to portions of Chalan Kanoa)

Two insulators in the Obyan switchgears were found shattered. The switchgears supply electrical power to 15 water wells in Obyan. Because of this, water was limited to 65 percent. However, the water division shifted water supplies to the new Kannat Tabla Super Blue Tank and the Dandan Tank.

On Monday, tree branches fell on high voltage lines in the memorial park grounds, affecting portions of Lower Base, CPA (Seaport), Hotel Street, and Beach Road Garapan south to the San Jose Intersection. The area was restored at 11:15pm.
